Sri Lanka D5 - Vesak Day

If the weird idea to go to Sri Lanka crossed our mond it is thanks to Camille, who mention Vesak Day. It is a public holiday in Singapore , so we had to take the opportunity to get out of here ! And we heard that the most beautiful celebration of this bouddhiste festival was taking place in Sri Lanka ... Done, we took our ticket right away ! Big Up Camille, without you I wouldnt be here to talk about it !

We planned the all itinerary to be sure to spend Vesak Day in Kandy, widely considered as being the cultural and spiritual center of Sri Lanka.

We go back to Kandy by train  (I fell in love of a Sri Lankan teenager in that train ! God kows he was good looking, but also completely underage !)  to check it out.

The city is very animated ! The main streets in the center are closed to cars and a lot of small booth are distributing or sellinf food, drinks, flower and offerings ... We knew it, Vesak Day is THE day to get free food ! Tens of booth are distribution to the population (and to us, minority of tourists !) , some tea, some sweets and even soemtimes a full curry meal !

Therefore everyone is on the street in traditional white dresses, walk around, eat and pray ! From time to time comes a somptuous elephant and gorgeous guys are dancing around.

When the night falls , we are over impatient to see the famous parade ! everyone has a different opinion on the strating hour of the parade , so we just walk around the Sacred Tooth temple, waiting for something to happem !

After a long wait, we finally hear some strong noises .... the show can start ! For more than a hour, we are completly stunned by the truly amazing show ... Elephants are walking 1m away form us, dancers are handsome, the juggler are amazind, there is fore show etc ...

In the night I could make nice pictures , but we did take some videos  !

One more beautiful thing of this trip ... I am about to say the 2nd best memory after Adam Peak ... but believe me, the rest of the trip is not bad either !
