Sri Lanka D6: Nuwara Eliya

As usual, to make the most of the time we have, we take an early bus in direction of Nuwara Eliya. Apparently it is like the "Little England" of Sri Lanka, in the center hills of the island. The british colonist especially liked the more chilly weather there, where europeans vergi and fruits could be cultivated, like strawberry for example !

Arriving in the middle of the morning in Nuwara Eliya, we have two objectives for the day : see one of the waterfall and take a swimm, and visit the tea plantations and factory.  FYI, I am kinda obsess since the beginning of the trip by taking a pictures of the women working in the plantations. Lets cut short on the suspens : FAILURE OF THE MISSION.

We organize a cab with the hostel owner to go around. 1st step : the waterfall. Arriving there , the waterfall is tiny and full of local taking a bath ... : deception. And of course, taking a swim in my tiny bikiny is impossible !  But our guide as a trick ... he brings us through a small path, going up along the river for a while ... and there it is ! The 200 m high waterfall we were expecting ! And there is no one around ! Priceless. We quick our guide out, undress and jump in the .[let's be honnest] freezing water ! Just enough time to take a few shot and we get out to prevent a bad cold !

Lets get dress lady, it is time to go see the tea plantation ... It is strating to rain moreover !
The visit of the tea factory is nice but quite quick. The best of it might be to have a cup of tea with an awesome home made chocolate cake at the end ! And to buy cheap good tea .

Back to Nuwara Eliya, we decide to take a walk aorund the city. Well to be honnest there is like ... nothing much to see ! Except maybe the weird mix between the very poor city and the luxurious golf clubs. We just had a walk through the market, and I bought my first "souvenir " ... a fake Tommy Hilfiger sweatshirt ! Most of the market is selling fake clothes so there is no much interest. But the guys are nice and are listening to Stromae, so we had a good laugh !
The rest of the market is a pretty normal food market ...
