Vacheron Constantin, sister brand from the Richemont group, is considered as the oldest watchmaker in continuous activity since 1755 (pffff, us ... jalous ... no ... whatever !). So VC (for the intimates) is therefore considered as one of the most prestigious watchmaker, along with Patek Philippe, Breguet and other Audemards Piguet !
After Patek a few years back, it is now VC that makes us dream, thanks to tradition, history, craftsmanship and nice mechanism. The exhibition is smart and not boring at all, even for non watchmaking fan I am sure (as it could be cause it is basically just over 200 watches !). There is 3 themes : the history of VC and the watchmaking industry (replying to your question ... Why the hell has a watch to be Swiss to be good ?), the complication (replying to your question ... Why the hell they had the idea to invent striking watches?), and the master of arts (replying to your question ... what the hell does "guillocher" stands for and why is it so important?).
There is free guided tour and the women that did mine was extremely good.
Take a look :
To see in the National Museum until August 14th ...
